Using the Vive Knee Ice Wrap

The Vive Knee Ice Wrap is designed to provide targeted hot or cold therapy around the front and back of the knee. Before applying the wrap, place the prepared gel packs into the two front pockets and the single rear pocket.

1. Straighten the affected leg.
2. Slide or position the wrap over the knee.
3. Center the gel-pack pockets over the areas you want to treat.
4. Secure the middle strap first.
5. Fasten the upper and lower straps until the wrap feels secure but comfortable.

The wrap should not be tightened to the point that it restricts circulation or causes numbness, tingling, or increased discomfort.

Preparing the Gel Packs for Cold Therapy

1. Place the gel packs flat in the freezer for at least two hours.
2. Remove the frozen packs from the freezer.
3. Insert the packs into the pockets of the knee wrap before applying it.
4. Use cold therapy for no longer than 15–20 minutes at one time unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional.

Heating the Gel Packs in a Microwave

Allow frozen gel packs to return to room temperature before microwave heating.

1. Place one gel pack on a paper towel inside the microwave.
2. Heat at full power for 45–60 seconds.
3. Check the temperature carefully.
4. If additional warmth is needed, reheat in 10-second intervals.
5. Insert the heated pack into the wrap before applying it to the knee.

Microwave performance varies. Always inspect the gel pack and test its temperature before use. Do not apply hot therapy for longer than 15–20 minutes at one time.

Heating the Gel Packs in Hot Water

1. Bring approximately three quarts of water to a boil.
2. Remove the water from the heat source.
3. Do not place the gel pack in the water while the water is actively heating.
4. Immerse the gel pack in the heated water for approximately 2½–3 minutes.
5. Carefully remove and dry the pack.
6. Check its temperature before inserting it into the knee wrap.

Important Safety Information

• Never place a frozen or heated gel pack directly against bare skin.
• Always use the gel packs inside the designated pockets of the wrap.
• Inspect the gel packs before every use and discontinue use if a pack is leaking, punctured, or damaged.
• Do not use temperature therapy on areas with reduced sensation or impaired circulation without medical guidance.
• Stop use if you experience burning, numbness, unusual skin discoloration, increased pain, or irritation.
• Follow your physician’s or physical therapist’s instructions following surgery or a significant knee injury.

Cleaning and Care

• Remove all three gel packs before washing the wrap.
• Machine wash the fabric wrap in cold water with similar colors.
• Hang the wrap to air dry.
• Do not machine dry the gel packs.
• Store the gel packs flat and away from sharp objects.
