Choosing a Size

NOVA offers these Arm Cast Protectors in three lengths for different coverage needs. Consider the length and location of the cast or bandage when choosing a size, making sure the protector is long enough to completely cover it while allowing the flexible seal to sit securely against the limb.

• 8113-R: Youth Medium, 18 inches long with a 5-inch-diameter ring.
• 8116-R: Adult Short, 22 inches long with a 5-inch-diameter ring.
• 8115-R: Adult Long, 39 inches long with a 7-inch-diameter ring.

Putting On the Cast Protector

NOVA recommends checking the cast before putting on the protector and carefully positioning the flexible seal so the cast or bandage is completely covered.

1. Check the cast for sharp edges that could puncture or tear the cast protector.
2. Carefully place the flexible seal over the cast or bandage.
3. Slowly move the plastic ring up the arm until the protector completely covers the cast or bandage.
4. Make sure the flexible seal is secure around the limb to help prevent water from leaking inside.
5. Make sure the seal is not so tight that it affects circulation.

Removing the Cast Protector

NOVA recommends drying the ring and seal before removing the protector. Handle the protector by the ring and seal rather than pulling on the clear plastic covering.

1. Dry the ring and flexible seal before removing the protector from the limb.
2. Carefully position the flexible seal over the cast or bandage.
3. Move the plastic ring down the arm until the cast protector has been removed.
4. Do not pull on the clear plastic protector because doing so may cause it to tear.

• Use this product only as a cast protector.
• Check the cast for sharp edges before each use because sharp areas may puncture or tear the protector.
• Make sure the flexible seal is secure around the limb before showering or bathing.
• Do not allow the flexible seal to become so tight that it affects blood circulation.
• The Cast Protector can become slippery when wet, so use caution while showering or bathing.
• Do not pull on the clear plastic protector when putting it on or removing it because this may cause tearing.
• Follow NOVA’s user instructions each time the Cast Protector is used.

Keeping the Protector in Good Condition

Inspect the protector before each use for punctures, tears, or other damage that could allow water to reach the cast or bandage. Check the cast itself for sharp edges before putting the protector on, and handle the product by its ring and flexible seal rather than pulling on the clear plastic covering.

Warranty

NOVA’s Cast Protector User Guide states that the product is guaranteed to last the life of the cast or bandage. The manufacturer instructions identify this product as intended for single-patient use.
