Using the Bed Rail
The Stander Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail serves two purposes: the curved handle provides support when transferring into or out of bed, while the extendable rail provides additional bedside protection while sleeping. The rail can be adjusted from 23 to 30 inches in length and must be properly installed on a compatible bed before use.
- Assemble and install the Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail according to Stander’s supplied instructions before use.
- Make sure the rail is securely attached to the bed frame using the installation method specified for your type of bed.
- Use the curved support handle for balance and support when getting into or out of bed.
- Extend the rail from 23 inches up to 30 inches when additional bedside protection is desired.
- Check that the rail remains securely installed and properly positioned against the mattress before each use.
Removing the Rail with Click-N-Go
The Click-N-Go release button allows the handle and rail to be removed from the installed base. This can provide easier access to the bed for changing linens, caregiver assistance, or other situations where the bedside rail would otherwise be in the way.
- Use the Click-N-Go release mechanism to remove the handle from the installed base when needed.
- Make sure the handle is completely reattached and securely locked into the base before placing weight on it or using the rail for bedside protection.
- Do not use the rail unless the Click-N-Go connection is fully engaged.
Choosing a Compatible Bed and Mattress
The Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail is compatible with traditional beds using box springs, platforms, or slats and with most adjustable beds that have wooden platforms. Stander specifies mattresses from Twin through California King with a thickness between 10 and 12 inches.
- Use only with mattresses measuring between 10 and 12 inches thick.
- Do not use the bed rail with an extra-soft mattress.
- Do not install the Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail on a metal bed frame.
- For adjustable beds, verify that the base has a compatible wooden platform before installation.
- Make sure the rail and mattress remain properly positioned through the full range of movement when used with a compatible adjustable bed.
Installing on a Traditional Bed
For compatible traditional beds, the Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail includes a safety strap that attaches around the bed frame. Traditional bed compatibility includes beds with box springs, platforms, or slats.
- Secure the safety strap around the bed frame according to Stander’s installation instructions.
- Make sure the strap remains properly secured and tensioned.
- Do not rely on the weight of the mattress alone to secure the bed rail.
- Recheck the installation whenever the mattress, bed, or rail has been moved.
Installing on a Compatible Adjustable Bed
The Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail can be installed on most adjustable beds with wooden platforms. Stander supplies hardware that secures the bed rail directly to the adjustable bed platform rather than using the traditional-bed safety strap installation.
- Confirm that the adjustable bed uses a compatible wooden platform.
- Attach the bed rail using the supplied hardware and Stander’s adjustable-bed installation instructions.
- Do not install the rail on a metal bed frame or incompatible adjustable base.
- Check the installation and rail position before operating the adjustable bed.
Checking Mattress Firmness
Stander warns that soft mattresses create a greater risk of entrapment between the mattress and bed rail. The manufacturer provides a specific mattress-compression test to help determine whether the Bed Rail Safety Guard is required.
- Make a fist and apply approximately 12 lbs. of pressure to the edge of the mattress.
- Observe how far the mattress compresses under that pressure.
- If approximately 12 lbs. of pressure compresses the mattress by about 2 inches, Stander instructs users not to use the bed rail without the Bed Rail Safety Guard.
Important Safety Information
- The maximum user weight capacity is 300 lbs.
- Read and follow Stander’s complete user guide, assembly instructions, and safety warnings before installing or using the bed rail.
- Use only with mattresses between 10 and 12 inches thick.
- Do not use the Click-N-Go Extendable Bed Rail with an extra-soft mattress.
- Do not install the bed rail on a metal bed frame.
- Soft mattresses can increase the risk of a person’s head, arm, or leg becoming entrapped between the mattress and rail, which can result in serious injury or death.
- If the mattress compresses approximately 2 inches when about 12 lbs. of pressure is applied, Stander instructs users not to use the rail without the Bed Rail Safety Guard.
- Make sure the rail is securely attached to the bed frame using the correct installation method for the bed.
- Check the installation regularly and make sure unsafe gaps have not developed between the rail and mattress.
