Using the Heavy Duty Bath Seat with Back
The NOVA Heavy Duty Bath Seat with Back is designed to provide a stable seated bathing surface with additional back support in a suitably sized bathtub or shower. Before sitting down, make sure the bench is level and stable, all four legs are securely adjusted to the same height, and the bath or shower provides enough room for all four legs to rest securely on the bathing surface.
Adjusting the Seat Height
The Heavy Duty Bath Seat adjusts from 17 to 23 inches high. NOVA requires all four legs to be adjusted to the same height so the bench remains level and stable.
- Place the seat face down on a level surface with the legs facing upward.
- Pull out the leg height adjustment clip.
- Slide the leg to the desired height and align the hole in the leg with the hole in the seat frame.
- Fully push the center pin of the height adjustment clip through the aligned holes.
- Repeat the process for each leg and make sure all four legs are set to the same height.
- Make sure every leg is stable and all adjustment components are fully engaged and locked before use.
Installing and Adjusting the Backrest
The plastic backrest is removable and attaches to the seat frame using push-button connections. NOVA also provides a second set of push-button positions that allow the backrest to be moved closer to the seat when needed.
- Turn the bath seat onto its side.
- Slide the backrest tubes into the four tube slots beneath the seat while depressing the brass push buttons on each side of the backrest tubes.
- Continue inserting the tubes until the brass push buttons click and lock securely into position.
- Check the backrest to make sure it is securely attached before use.
- Use the second set of push-button positions if the backrest needs to be positioned closer to the seat.
Positioning the Bath Seat
Place the bath seat inside the bathtub or shower and make sure the bench is stable and does not wobble before sitting down. The bath seat should be used on a level surface with all four legs securely supported.
Using the Side Handles
The slots along both sides of the seat serve as handles when sitting down or getting up from the bench. NOVA specifically instructs users to hold both side handles for stability because placing weight on only one side can cause the bath bench to topple.
Using a Handheld Shower Head
The round openings located in the front and rear corners of the seat can be used to hold a compatible handheld shower head. A handheld shower set is not included with the Heavy Duty Bath Seat with Back.
