Using the Orthotics

The PowerStep ProTech Control replaces the removable factory insoles in compatible footwear. Its firmer support and built-in 2° medial heel wedge are designed to provide additional control for people requiring greater correction than a standard orthotic.

1. Remove the existing factory insole from each shoe.
2. Select the appropriate ProTech Control size using PowerStep’s sizing chart.
3. Place the orthotic into the shoe with the fabric side facing upward.
4. Push the heel firmly against the back of the shoe.
5. Confirm that the orthotic lies flat and remains stable while walking.
6. Verify that the shoe still provides adequate heel security and toe room.

Choosing a Size

The ProTech Control is available in 12 sizes ranging from ASM through L. Select the size that corresponds with your regular U.S. shoe size using PowerStep’s full-length sizing chart.

Choosing Appropriate Footwear

The ProTech Control is intended for athletic and casual footwear with removable factory insoles and enough interior depth to accommodate a full-length orthotic.

• Remove the original shoe liner whenever possible.
• Ensure the orthotic lies completely flat inside the shoe.
• Confirm that the added support does not crowd the toes or lift the heel.
• Check the fit individually in each pair of shoes.

Adjusting to the Support

Because the ProTech Control provides firmer support and additional correction than standard ProTech models, PowerStep recommends allowing approximately one to two weeks to become accustomed to the orthotics.

1. Wear the orthotics for approximately one hour on the first day.
2. Increase wear time by about one additional hour each day.
3. Continue increasing wear time gradually as comfort allows.
4. If discomfort develops, reduce wear time temporarily before increasing again.
5. Consult your healthcare professional if discomfort persists or worsens.

Important Safety Information

• The ProTech Control is intended for individuals requiring greater corrective support for moderate to severe overpronation.
• Use only in properly fitting footwear with adequate interior depth.
• Discontinue use if persistent pain, numbness, skin irritation, or worsening symptoms occur.
• Individuals with diabetes, impaired circulation, reduced sensation, or foot wounds should consult their healthcare provider before using orthotic insoles.
• Inspect the orthotics regularly for wear or damage and replace them when structural support or cushioning has deteriorated.

Cleaning and Care

• Spot clean using mild detergent.
• Do not immerse the orthotics in water.
• Allow them to air dry completely before reuse.
• Do not expose the orthotics to direct heat while drying.
• Inspect the heel wedge, support shell, heel cushion, and top cover periodically for wear.

Replacement

PowerStep states that its orthotics generally last six months or longer under normal use, although service life depends on footwear, activity level, frequency of wear, and individual walking mechanics.
