Using the Orthotics

The PowerStep ProTech with Met is designed to replace the removable factory insoles in compatible footwear. Its built-in metatarsal pad is positioned to help support the area just behind the ball of the foot while the full-length orthotic provides structured heel-to-toe support.

1. Remove the factory insole from each shoe.
2. Select the correct ProTech size using PowerStep’s sizing chart.
3. Place the orthotic inside the shoe with the fabric side facing upward.
4. Seat the heel firmly against the back of the shoe.
5. Verify that the metatarsal pad rests comfortably behind the ball of the foot rather than directly beneath it.
6. Walk for a short period to confirm the orthotic remains stable and comfortable.

Choosing a Size

The ProTech with Met is available in 10 sizes ranging from A through K. Select the size that corresponds with your regular shoe size using PowerStep’s official full-length sizing chart.

Choosing Appropriate Footwear

The ProTech with Met provides maximum cushioning and total-contact support and works best in athletic and casual shoes that have removable factory insoles and sufficient interior depth.

• Remove the factory liner before installing the orthotics.
• Confirm that the shoe has adequate interior depth for both the orthotic and your foot.
• Make sure the metatarsal pad sits comfortably behind the ball of the foot.
• Verify that the orthotic lies flat and does not shift during walking.

Adjusting to the Support

PowerStep recommends allowing approximately one to two weeks to become accustomed to structured orthotic support and the built-in metatarsal pad.

1. Wear the orthotics for approximately one hour on the first day.
2. Increase wear time by about one additional hour each day.
3. Continue increasing wear time gradually as comfort allows.
4. If discomfort persists, reduce wear time and consult your healthcare professional.

Important Safety Information

• The built-in metatarsal pad should rest just behind the ball of the foot and should not create excessive localized pressure.
• Discontinue use if persistent pain, numbness, skin irritation, or worsening symptoms occur.
• Individuals with diabetes, impaired circulation, reduced sensation, or foot wounds should consult their healthcare provider before using orthotic insoles.
• Use only in properly fitting footwear with adequate interior space.

Cleaning and Care

• Spot clean using mild detergent.
• Do not immerse the orthotics in water.
• Allow them to air dry completely before reuse.
• Do not expose the orthotics to direct heat while drying.
• Inspect the metatarsal pad, support shell, heel cushion, and top cover regularly for wear or damage.

Replacement

PowerStep states that its orthotics generally last six months or longer under normal use, although service life varies depending on activity level, footwear, and frequency of wear. Replace the orthotics when the cushioning, metatarsal pad, or structural support no longer performs as intended.
