Choosing Between the 8350 and 8351
Both NOVA 5″ Locking Raised Toilet Seat models provide the same basic benefit: five inches of additional toilet height to reduce the amount of lowering and rising required when using the toilet. The primary difference is the addition of supportive arms.
- 8350 – Without Arms: A streamlined option for users who need additional toilet height but do not require arm support.
- 8351 – With Detachable Arms: Adds foam-padded arms for additional support and leverage when sitting down and standing up. The arms can be adjusted to two width positions or removed when they are not needed.
Installing the Raised Toilet Seat
Both models use NOVA’s front-locking system and require no tools for installation. Depending on the style and size of the toilet, the raised seat may be installed with the existing toilet seat and lid attached, or the existing seat and lid may need to be removed.
- Make sure the toilet is clean and sanitized before installation.
- Lift the existing toilet seat and lid, removing them completely if necessary for your toilet.
- Set the Raised Toilet Seat onto the toilet so the inner portion of the anchor insert sits inside the toilet bowl and against the back of the toilet rim.
- Make sure the square clamp underneath the Raised Toilet Seat faces toward the inside of the toilet’s front rim.
- If necessary, turn the front knob counterclockwise to loosen the clamp enough to properly position the seat.
- Turn the front knob clockwise until the clamp is securely locked onto the toilet.
- Do not overtighten the knob, as excessive tightening may damage the plastic clamp.
- Pull upward on the Raised Toilet Seat to confirm that it is securely locked before use.
Using the Detachable Arms on the 8351
The 8351 includes two foam-padded arms that attach to telescoping tubes underneath the seat using push-button connections. The arms provide additional support and leverage when sitting down and standing up and can be removed when they are not needed.
- Depress the brass push button on each arm and insert the arm into the corresponding telescoping tube underneath the seat.
- Push the arm inward until the brass button engages and securely locks into position.
- Install the arms so they lean forward, away from the rear of the toilet.
- Choose between the two available width positions, providing either 17.75 or 20 inches of space between the arms.
- Make sure both arms are completely engaged before using them for support.
- To remove an arm, depress the brass push button and pull the arm out of the seat.
Checking Toilet Compatibility
Both variants fit most standard and elongated toilets, but NOVA lists slightly different sizing limits for the two models. For the 8350, the inner top rim to inner bottom rim measurement cannot exceed 14.5 inches. For the 8351, the inner rim front-to-back measurement cannot exceed 14.75 inches. Check the dimensions of your toilet and your selected model before installation.
