Using the Sliding Swivel Transfer Bench
The NOVA Sliding Swivel Seat Transfer Bench is designed to help reduce the need to step directly over a tub or shower threshold. The user can sit on the seat, use the swivel function for positioning, and slide the chair along the horizontal rails to transfer from one side of the bench to the other while remaining seated.
Adjusting the Bench Height
The legs use push-button adjustments to set the transfer bench to the desired height. NOVA requires all four legs to be adjusted to the same height so the bench remains level.
- Use the push button on each leg to select the desired height.
- Adjust all four legs to the same height setting.
- Listen for a click and make sure every push button is fully engaged before using the bench.
- Place the assembled bench upright on a level surface and make sure it is stable before use.
Using the Swivel Seat
The seat rotates 360 degrees in 90-degree increments to help the user turn into an appropriate position for transferring. NOVA warns that the swivel mechanism contains potential pinch points, so hands and fingers should be kept clear while the mechanism is engaged.
- Pull the swivel release lever away from the chair to engage the swivel mechanism.
- Release the lever and pivot the seat to the desired position in 90-degree increments.
- Allow the swivel mechanism to lock securely into the selected position.
- Keep hands and fingers clear of the moving swivel mechanism.
- Make sure the swivel seat is completely locked before attempting to stand.
Using the Sliding Function
The sliding function allows the chair to travel along the horizontal rails of the transfer bench. This allows the user to move across the bench while remaining seated rather than stepping across the tub or shower threshold.
- Make sure the user is securely seated and properly positioned before releasing the sliding mechanism.
- Push the black knob straight in to engage the chair’s sliding function.
- Slide the chair along the horizontal rails toward the desired side of the transfer bench.
- Continue moving the chair until it locks securely into position.
- Confirm that the chair is locked before attempting to stand or transfer away from the bench.
Using the Arms and Backrest
The transfer bench includes a backrest and two removable padded arms for seated support and stability. These components attach using push-button connections, and NOVA instructs users not to use the product until all applicable push buttons are fully engaged.
Using the Showerhead Holder
An included showerhead holder can be attached to a leg of the transfer bench to keep a compatible handheld shower head within convenient reach while the user is seated.
