Using the Wonder Stable Rail
The Stander Wonder Stable Rail is designed to provide balance and support when transferring into or out of bed. Unlike a bed rail supported only beneath the mattress, the Stable Rail includes adjustable legs that extend to the floor for additional stability while the included safety strap secures the rail to the bed frame.
- Assemble the Wonder Stable Rail according to Stander’s supplied instructions before use.
- Position the rail on a compatible traditional bed with the support structure beneath the mattress.
- Adjust the support legs until they properly reach the floor according to Stander’s installation instructions.
- Secure the Stable Rail to the bed frame using the included safety strap.
- Make sure the rail, support legs, and safety strap are firmly positioned before placing weight on the handle.
- Use the padded handle for balance and support when transferring into or out of bed.
Adjusting the Support Legs
The Stable Rail’s adjustable legs extend all the way to the floor to provide additional support. Stander lists an overall adjustable height of 30 to 40 inches, allowing the rail to accommodate compatible bed and mattress setups.
- Adjust the legs so they reach the floor as directed in Stander’s assembly instructions.
- Make sure the legs are properly positioned before using the rail for transfer support.
- Recheck the leg adjustment if the bed, mattress, or Stable Rail is moved.
- Do not use the rail if the support legs cannot be properly positioned on the floor.
Choosing a Compatible Bed and Mattress
The Wonder Stable Rail is designed for traditional non-adjustable beds with box springs, platforms, or slats. Stander states that it can be used with mattress sizes from Twin through California King when the mattress measures between 6 and 14 inches thick.
- Use with traditional non-adjustable beds only.
- Do not use the Wonder Stable Rail with an adjustable base bed.
- Do not use the Stable Rail with an extra-soft mattress.
- Use only with mattresses measuring between 6 and 14 inches thick.
- Make sure the adjustable support legs can properly reach the floor at the intended installation location.
Securing the Safety Strap
The included safety strap attaches around the bed frame and helps keep the Stable Rail securely positioned. The support legs do not replace the safety strap; both parts of the installation should be properly positioned before the rail is used.
- Attach the safety strap around the bed frame according to Stander’s installation instructions.
- Make sure the strap remains secure and properly tensioned.
- Do not rely on the mattress or floor-support legs alone to keep the bed rail in position.
- Recheck the safety strap whenever the bed, mattress, or Stable Rail has been moved.
Checking Mattress Firmness
Stander warns that soft mattresses create a greater risk of entrapment and injury when used with a bed rail. The manufacturer provides a mattress-compression test to help determine whether the Bed Rail Safety Guard is required.
- Make a fist and apply approximately 12 lbs. of pressure to the edge of the mattress.
- Observe how far the mattress compresses under that pressure.
- If approximately 12 lbs. of pressure compresses the mattress by about 2 inches, Stander instructs users not to use the bed rail without the Bed Rail Safety Guard.
Using the Organizer Pouch
The included organizer pouch provides convenient bedside storage for frequently used personal items such as a phone, tablet, glasses, remote control, or medications. Keep stored items positioned so they do not interfere with the padded support handle.
